Bippie Time

We took Jill's mom to the airport this morning to head back to Maine today. She has been such a tremendous help and wonderful support to us. She'll be back...
On our way home we stopped by to see Gus quickly - he is again doing really well and now has a pacifier. This is a big deal as preemies often have a hard time developing a sucking reflex so they want to keep him going on these tiny pacifiers for a while. This picture is of Jill helping him to get going - his little cheeks are moving just like they should.
I was able to spend some time holding Gus' head and hand this morning too. It is amazing how he calms down when someone holds him like this.
This is Gus' daytime primary care nurse, Susie. She is really a wonderful person - one of those people who loves babies and the care she gives. She is so patient answering our questions and very tender with Gus. Again, we couldn't ask for any better care for Gus and ourselves. Thank you Susie!
Gus had his ventricle IV line removed from his umbilical cord and the arterial line should come out soon. Morphine is off, no need for insulin today and the bilirubin lights may turn off soon so he is making good progress. With all the lines removed from the umbilical cord he will start to receive more nutrition in a few days and his weight should start to go up.

That's it for now - thanks for all the comments and prayers!
Gregg, Jill and Gus

We are so happy to read about Gus' progress each day. We are thinking about you and praying for you - as are our friends and family members across the country. Hugs!
